AI Search Visibility
AI Search Visibility
Kite audits why a business is missing from, or poorly represented in, ChatGPT Search and other AI supplier recommendations. We compare buyer questions, competitors and cited sources, then implement practical improvements to the website and business information.
The commercial problem
A buyer may ask an AI search tool to suggest suppliers and see competitors named while your business is missing. Your company might be mentioned but described incorrectly, or appear for its name without being recommended for the service it offers.
The audit investigates those differences. Possible gaps include pages that cannot be crawled, an unclear service offer, inconsistent business details, missing evidence or relevant sources that discuss other suppliers. Absence from one answer does not establish the cause: we check the underlying evidence before recommending work.
Kite's approach
We start with the commercial objective, the customers you want to reach and the services you can actually deliver. We agree which buyer questions, competitors and search tools the audit will cover, then establish a repeatable starting point.
Kite combines that research with a review of the website and the public information available about the business. The result is a diagnosis and a prioritised implementation plan. Where agreed, we make the page, technical and enquiry-journey changes.
AI search visibility is one part of Kite's commercial growth work. We also assess whether the offer, lead generation or sales follow-up needs attention. The scope is agreed around the problem.
How the audit is conducted
- Define a set of supplier-selection and problem-solving questions that reflects how your prospective customers buy. Record the tool, search setting, date and location used.
- Run the agreed questions in fresh sessions and repeat them to observe variation. Record whether the business is mentioned, linked as a source or actively recommended; these are different outcomes.
- Record the suppliers named and the pages cited. Open relevant sources to check what evidence they contain and whether they support the answer.
- Inspect crawlable HTML, search indexing information where available, robots rules, canonical URLs, internal links and structured data. Check hosting access against server logs where access is provided.
- Review service descriptions, company identity, contact details and available proof. Separate confirmed issues from hypotheses and unknowns.
- Prioritise fixes, agree what Kite will implement and repeat the same checks after the work. A change in an answer is an observation, not proof on its own that one edit caused it.
Competitors and cited sources
We compare the businesses that appear for the agreed buyer questions with your offer. We look at how their relevant service pages explain the work, whether named people or project evidence are available, and which independent pages an answer cites. We do not assume that every named competitor is a suitable supplier or that a citation proves expertise.
The comparison identifies specific evidence and information gaps. Recommendations might include clarifying an audit deliverable, correcting a genuine business profile or publishing an approved project record.
Who this is for
- UK service businesses and B2B companies that want to understand why competitors appear in AI supplier recommendations.
- Founders and commercial teams whose business is missing, misdescribed or only visible in searches for its own name.
- Businesses with a real service offer and an existing website, but unclear audit findings or no practical implementation plan.
- Teams that need specialist AI visibility work connected to website enquiries and commercial growth.
What you receive
- A recorded baseline of the agreed buyer questions, test conditions, business appearances, competitor recommendations and citations.
- A competitor and source comparison with links to the evidence checked and gaps relevant to your offer.
- A diagnosis covering technical access, service clarity, business identity and available proof, separating findings from hypotheses.
- A prioritised action plan stating the changes, responsibilities and dependencies, including evidence the business must supply.
- The content and technical improvements included in the agreed implementation scope, plus a record of validation checks.
- A repeatable follow-up test and a measurement plan connecting search observations with referrals and qualified enquiries where data permits.
How the audit report is organised
| Report section | What it records |
|---|---|
| Buyer-question baseline | The exact questions, search tools, dates and conditions; saved answers; separate counts for mentions, citations and supplier recommendations. |
| Competitor and citation map | Suppliers named, exact cited URLs and the claims each source supports. An independent source is distinguished from a supplier’s own website. |
| Access and content findings | The affected page or setting, evidence checked, commercial relevance and whether the issue is confirmed, a hypothesis or still unknown. |
| Implementation priorities | The proposed change, responsible person, dependencies and validation check. Technical access problems are addressed before testing content changes. |
| Follow-up comparison | The same questions and recorded conditions, the number of completed tests, changes observed and any limits on attributing those changes to the work. |
How we assess progress
We repeat the same buyer questions under recorded conditions and compare the proportion of tested answers that mention, cite or recommend the business. We also track the suppliers and sources returned so that wider changes in the search tool are visible.
Where analytics and sales records permit, we review AI referrals and the quality of the enquiries they generate. These are separate measures: a citation is not a visit, and a visit is not a sale. We state sample sizes and attribution limits rather than presenting a visibility score as a guaranteed commercial result.
Questions
Is Kite a dedicated GEO agency?
No. Kite Strategies is a UK commercial growth firm. AI search visibility is one capability alongside lead generation, sales and enquiry conversion, and website performance. We choose the work around the commercial problem.
Can you guarantee a recommendation in ChatGPT Search?
No. We can audit the evidence, implement agreed improvements and report what changes in repeated tests. We cannot guarantee inclusion, a position, a citation, a recommendation, a fixed timeline or a volume of enquiries. Search tools choose their own sources and answers vary.
Is allowing a search crawler enough?
Crawler access is one part of the work. The site also needs useful, accurate information about your business and services, clear internal links and a route from a relevant visit to an enquiry.
What information do you need to start?
Your website, the services and customers you want to be found for, and the competitors you consider relevant. Search Console, analytics and server logs can help where available; any access and additional evidence are agreed as part of the scope. An initial Commercial Review does not require account passwords or customer data.
Should we start with an AI visibility audit or a Commercial Review?
If the main problem is being missing or misrepresented in AI supplier recommendations, the audit can investigate it. If you are unsure whether discovery, the website or sales follow-up is holding growth back, start with a Commercial Review. That helps decide which work is worth prioritising.
Will we need new website content?
The audit identifies which information buyers need to understand and assess your offer. That may mean clarifying existing service pages, explaining the work more specifically or adding an approved project record. We agree new content only where it addresses an identified gap and your business can support the claims.
